Orangery
Using Accoya Wood to Create a Sustainable and Stable Finished Project.
We had constructed an orangery to this clients neighbours a few years previously. The client wanted to take advantage of the far reaching views and so commissioned us to create a bespoke orangery for them. We teamed up with Swish architecture for the initial design and to gain the necessary planning permission. We then worked closely with our joinery manufacturers to design the building which had an extremely large lantern roof. The lantern support structure had to be externally sourced from a truss manufacturer we work with and they engineered a suitable load bearing frame to support the lantern.
The structure was created using Accoya wood: an extremely stable, sustainably grown product which was fully factory spray finished. The client wanted a wet underfloor heating system to the room which was only accessible from the boiler via an external route. Our heating engineers designed a system using super insulated underground pipework which we routed under the existing patio by carefully mapping out the paving, removing and storing it, followed by relaying it after the pipework was laid in the same order.
