Extension and alterations

Using Kingspan TEK System to Overcome Multiple Hurdles and Result in a Build with Superior Insulation and Air Tightness.

We were presented with a set of plans for ground floor alterations and first floor extension to this project. As it was suspected the original part of the building we were to work on was a conversion of a stable block, the architects and engineers were unsure of what was going to be uncovered during the parts of demolition required and so various assumptions had to be made with the approach of ‘further investigation required’.

Upon familiarising ourselves with the building it became apparent that some of the existing load bearing points were not going to be suitable for supporting the new construction. This combined with a complex roof design and further constraints for load bearing, we considered bringing in the Kingspan TEK system and the team from Point 1 to see if they could present a solution to overcome the hurdles we were faced with.

Not only did they present an affordable solution, the build process was speeded up and the resulting construction is a far superior performing system than a traditional route in terms of both insulation and air tightness.
