Barn Conversion: Turnditch

Working Closely with Engineers, Building Control and Clients to Meet Structural Requirements, Keep Costs Down and Ensure the Character of the Building was Intact.

We were approached by the client to convert this large barn which although stood in very good condition for its age, it did require additional engineer designed works to the ground floor, roof and walls.

We worked closely with the engineers, building control and clients to create designs meeting the structural requirements, keeping costs down and ensuring the character of the building was intact.

We put forward our own design of creating the ‘inner shell’ of the external walls meeting the required insulation and damp proofing needs as well as the clients brief.

Due to the inevitable unknown elements of any barn conversion, the client was required to be on hand to liaise with and have a clear understanding of all decisions made.

Client's Review

'We feel very fortunate to have used PJAllen builders to carry out our barn conversion.

Peter and Tom have a wealth of experience and we found them to be extremely conscientious, competent and they took great pride in their work – we’re thrilled with the result.  They offered practical advice and also helped us to identify opportunities for cost-saving along the way, without compromising the build, which we greatly appreciated.

Being our first building project, we had a lot to learn but Peter & Tom welcomed our input and presence on site, and guided us through the process.  They liaised professionally and effectively with the authorities and other trades that were brought onto the project and were absolutely fundamental to the success of our conversion.

Peter, Tom & Paul were a pleasure to work with and obviously as keen as ourselves to make the project a success. We would have no hesitation in recommending them.'
