Barn Conversion: Mugginton

Partial Re-Build, Sourcing Reclaimed Materials to Match Existing, a Bespoke Handcrafted ‘King Post Truss’ and an Air Source Heat Unit.

The client purchased this barn with planning permission in place but wanted to make a few amendments to suit their wants and needs.

We were called in at an early stage to talk through what the clients brief was and organise architect design, building control and structural engineer design. The revised plans were submitted and passed enabling the barn to be converted to suit the family’s criteria.

This project included partial re-build, sourcing reclaimed materials to match existing, a bespoke hand crafted ‘King Post Truss’ and an air source heat unit to provide central heating/ under floor heating and hot water.

We also incorporated our own building control approved system for creating the ‘inner shell’ to the external walls. This system includes full damp proofing and insulation whilst having the ability to follow the natural contours of the walls. The end result is a traditional finish whilst meeting modern standards.

Client's Review

'We are so pleased with the work that PJ Allen builders carried out for us. They helped us to visualise our future home and provided positive input all along. The different trades people that they use work at a very high standard.'
